There is a lot of due dates with this class, and the clear overview at the beginning of class has been helpful for me to determine what I need to do and when it is all due. The majority of this class was spent listening to my peers do presentations on China. One presentation that was particularly interesting to me was the International Travel Stresses group and how to combat the stress that can come along with that long travel. I have driven on long road trips, but I have never been on a flight for longer than 10 hours. I think being on a plane for over 13 hours could be very stressful to me, and I paid especially close attention to that presentation. It was interesting to hear about important it is to drink a lot of water and have a light meal before the plane ride. I have never tried taking melatonin, but I might try and take some on this flight to help me sleep and pre-adjust to the time zone difference in China. Another presentation that got me very excited was the Cities group. I am obviously excited for the big cities like Beijing, but one city I am most excited for is Suzhou, which is supposed to be like the “Venice of the East”. I think the architecture, culture, and food will be so different than anything I have ever expected before, and I am really looking forward to experiencing all of these new Chinese experiences!
