Every journey has a beginning, and this one is no different. I am excited to jumpstart this remarkable adventure into the unknown with my fellow Class XXIV of the Hoeft Technology and Management Program. Being from Asia myself, I never actually travelled to China, with my understanding being limited by the scarce outposts of Chinese presence in my city of Vladivostok.
I expected a lot more from the first class, however, syllabus was a good beginning of this journey nevertheless. Learning about blogging assignments, our expectations from the trip, as well as future classes was interesting to say the least. In addition, once we received very brief outline of the agenda of our trip, I was excited beyond words, since it included two cities that I wanted to visit the most: Shanghai and Beijing. One with ancient buildings, another with western influence permeating the streets, as you can feel it with every breath: the result of rapid industrialization that I find fascinating. Let’s see where this class takes us next.
