In class today, we started talking more about the logistics of the upcoming trip and some of the things are going to have to do prepare. Something that really stuck out to me was the fact that we are going to cut away from all of our social media and rely solely on WeChat. I think this is a really interesting part of the experience because it forces you to take in the people around you and to also enjoy the trip rather than worry about the external communications outside of T&M people. I also thought it was interesting that we talked about how to get around without getting ripped off. Many of the Taxi driver in China lie about the fare or take advantage of the fact that we don’t know the language. I think it was very helpful to talk about downloading Didi because it like Uber. I also think it is interesting how there are different types of Uber apps in different countries. In Barcelona, they used myTaxi and in China they use Didi which is different than the US. Something that I wonder is if any of these applications will become completely global and a monopoly. I am also really excited that we get to go visit Didi as one of our corporate trips because it is something that we are also going to using while we are there and can actually relate to the product. Something that I also thought was a good point to be conscious of was the fact that pick pocketing happens in more crowded areas. Europe is definitely known for pick pocketing, but it is good to always remember that anything can happen and to be really careful especially considering we need our passports.
