Class 1 Reflection

When reflecting upon the first class, I think it really hit me that I would be going to China very soon. When we were talking about our strengths and weaknesses with traveling, I felt excitement but also some anxiousness. After recently traveling over spring break, I had a couple of hard experiences when I had a 101 fever and losing my luggage. While I also really enjoyed my time in Barcelona, I can’t help but be a little nervous about those events repeating. Even though I am nervous, I also started to realize that China is going to whole new experience and something that I have never gotten to experience. Something that I am really excited to see is the Great Wall of China. After looking up some pictures, it looks like an incredible sight and something that I would definitely want to do. While it also seems daunting to climb up as I am not a super sporty person, it will be worth overcoming the fear to see that wall. Overall, I think the first class really helped me think about my experiences and reflect on the way I act in out of the norm situations like traveling. Something that really stuck out to me in class was the when Illae said that your weaknesses are heightened and your strengths are diminished. This stuck out to me because it made me realize that I need to be aware of my actions and not get caught up in my feeling or emotions when in China. I really appreciated the activity because it helped me reflect on my past experiences and realize how to make the most of the trip to China!
