Pre-Trip Class 2 Reflection

Before class this week, we got an email from Beth with our plane tickets (another nudge to remind me that the trip is actually happening). I discussed some things with my parents about funding and started looking at study abroad scholarships. In our class we watched the trip video, discussed behavioral expectations, reviewed the travel details, went over some notes about the trip, and turned in our visa forms. Many of the notes will probably be covered in more details later, but some of the points stuck out to me. I have to set travel notices on my card and figure out a mobile plan for China, and I need to figure out how I will be getting money while I’m there. We were also informed that the water isn’t safe to drink in China so we will use bottled water, that bathrooms aren’t very similar to those in the USA, and that theft is common both in secret and in open transactions.                Later in the week, I set travel notices on all of my cards just in case I use some I didn’t expect to. I also started to do some research about travel to China in general. I completed my application for the study abroad scholarship through the college of engineering. Towards the end of the week, I planned out my summer before and after the trip. I picked my starting day for my internship, planned a visit to my dad’s after we get back but before my internship, and I discussed with my girlfriend when I’ll come home for our Disney trip. After this week, my summer started to take some shape.
