Today we went to Lion Grove and saw the beautiful tourist attraction. It was home to beautiful ancient Chinese buildings, ponds stocked with fish, and rocks with unique hollowed-out geometries. The hollowed out rocks were formed in a lake and they were then transported to the grove. In ancient times in China, parents would plant … Continue reading Day 7: Watch out the silk worms are alive
5/20/19 yay nature!
Today was a very busy day, but fun. We started off going to the lion grove gardens and they were absolutely breathtaking. I really enjoyed it because I have been missing nature and that was one of the first times I’ve seen blue skies this trip. It was a lot of fun exploring all of … Continue reading 5/20/19 yay nature!
By the Waterside
After a short flight to Shanghai, we headed over to the quaint area of Zhujiajiao, a water town. There were streets upon streets full of petite shops selling beautiful things like painted fans, flavorful teas, and pork and rice stuffed inside a bamboo leaf. We traipsed around the area, in search for everything and nothing. … Continue reading By the Waterside
Zhujiajiou – Ancient water town
I usually don't like traveling in big groups, but knowing everyone around me on the plane today sure helped me finish my crosswords! We spent lots of time in transit today, but it led to us playing a lot of games on the plane and bus and all of us getting to know each other … Continue reading Zhujiajiou – Ancient water town
China day 6!
Today we traveled, surprise surprise. Zhangjiakou -> Shanghai -> Water Town -> Suzhou. Chinese domestic air travel was a very different experience than US domestic travel. Security was comparatively lax, the plane took off at a much more severe angle, and we were served eggplant, which was surprisingly delicious. A brief refill at the McDonald's … Continue reading China day 6!

This afternoon we had a very relaxing time at the Zhujiajiao Water Town. Walking into the water town, we decided to go to a tea place to try out some tea and have some valuable conversations. We ordered a pot of Longjing green tea. After enjoying our tea time, we wandered around the water town … Continue reading Day 6 – Zhujiajiao
19 May- Zhujiajiao
Although short, the visit to Zhujiajiao was one to remember. It began with the beautiful sight of the water canals, of which tour boats calmly went through. Shops and food stores lined the sidewalks, and I had an amazing time trying all of the different street foods! I'm a huge fan of the stinky tofu … Continue reading 19 May- Zhujiajiao
Water you talking about?
It’s funny how once you’ve been on a 13.5 hour flight, a 2.5 hour one seems like nothing. If anything, I thought it was too short because I wanted to take a longer nap. Alas, I had to soldier on without my nap. The McDonald’s having waffle fries was a real highlight and got me … Continue reading Water you talking about?
